Martha & Nick’s Quilt

This was a commission for Christmas from Martha to Nick. It’s a 2.5 x 2metre quilt backed with 100% wool. The constellations, in the middle, are the northern hemisphere (kit bought from Haptic Lab) Martha came up with the concept and  i made it happen! The surrounding shapes are inspired by the mountain ranges around Chamonix (Mont Blanc, Aigle de Midi, etc.). It’s definitely the largest item i’ve made to date and took me roughly 95 hours (give or take…)

Here are some detailed pictures from the commission.

The stars where embroidered in glow in the dark thread! Thank you to Martha for the picture.

Just before Christmas I got involved, once again, with another humhum project. This time it was for secret santa. Handmade presents are always encouraged and I was lucky enough to get Jonty. I made him this lovely chicken, with a little chick tucked into his wing. He has chickens, which he keeps in the garden, and I knew this would be the perfect gift!

It was so successful, I also made one for my french Grandma for Christmas…

And then I made another one! This time for Alice, in exchange for some lovely hand knitted  handwarmers.

I have a few more cut out ready to be sewn together. i was slightly toying with the idea of starting an Etsy shop, although it’s actually quite nice just to give them as gifts, to friends, for the time being.
